Rotties on the loose
Man, I wish I’d taken out the camera. We were out for a walk with the dogs on this spring-like January day when we came across a couple of Rottweilers running loose on our property. Fortunately, they were well-mannered enough that they ignored my mom (who fears large dogs, and who was carrying Grep) and me (carrying Icky, who was squirming and whining), and didn’t bother Sobe too much (on a leash with Paul). They even followed us back to the house while we put our dogs inside, and let us talk them onto the porch (cheese!) while Paul called the animal control guy. They only growled a little bit when the truck pulled up; they seemed more concerned that they stay together than about being taken away. At one point the female lost her collar entirely but just lay down waiting for it to be put back on. We joked with the guy (Gary Rose I think?) that we always seem to get the big dogs visiting (last time a huge black dog named Buddy that we found out later lived down the road).
In the unlikely event that you live in Palmyra, are reading this blog, and are missing a male (rather chubby) and female (thinner, looks as if she’s had a litter in the past) Rottie wearing training collars, make sure you get ahold of animal control (or possibly Wayne County Shelter). I sure hope they find their way home; they were really nice, friendly dogs. We felt a little guilty getting them captured, but I know if our dogs were out I’d rather they were someplace I could pick them up rather than out loose where they could get hurt.
