Mutant trees
This was just about the perfect fall day. Too bad this was the first non-rainy day here in weeks, and that the leaves will all be down within a few days.
Also check out our eastern property, western property, and center property (first few pics of each are recent).

averages
We had a very dry summer here, followed by a fairly dry beginning to fall. It wasn’t all bad, I managed to get a ton of work done around the property this summer, some of which was long overdue. However since weather seems to run on averages we’re making up for it now. It seems like it’s rained everyday for the last two weeks or so. Enough rain that poor rtn has to redo his basement in CT.
I know it hasn’t actually rained everyday during that period. There was at least one day where it dried out enough for me to run down and mow the neighbors lawn(/hayfield) into submission. I also managed to take a crack at clearing out some of the mess around the little water puddle/pond we have at the split in the driveway. Not enough though, the temperature is great right now for outside type work, and the constant dribble I see when i’m lured outside by the call of fall is defeating me. (batshit INC (incomming for the non mmorpg fans))
Don’t get me wrong, i’m not so delicate I can’t go out and get a little wet =), I did a majority of the work cleaning up drainage around the driveway in the rain this year. Much water and mud was dug/throws/stomped and played in to accomplish it. I’ll go as far as to admit it was fun. However I think maybe once or twice a month is a healthy limit for spending hours out soaked to the skin.
Going to do some work on the web proxy today and hope for less falling water tommorow.

happy birthday to me
34 today ( i think…)
Erica and her mother are cooking up a nice dinner, mushrooms, garlic mashed potatoes, and some pan seared COW, the smell is driving me nuts (aaarrrgghhh). Went for a walk with the dogs , and managed to find a lost pair of hearing protection that i lost dragging brush last week. All in all not a bad day :).
Bday booty:
- Socks!
- A new kind of science
- system of a down cd
- shoes that don’t fit (woops)
- dinner ;)
Having lifted the wolfram book, i’m thinking it’s graduated beyond book to tome, although i’m not sure there are any hard fast rules for using one vs the other.
I love socks.

The Weekend That Wasn’t

Books went upstairs, books went downstairs. Shelves were assembled and attached to things. Shelves were rolled to the barn. Many things were thrown out.
Also note, new pics in the gallery will come from our new camera, the Kodak Z7590.
